Where Leaders Are Made
Club Mission Statement
The Mission of our Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. Our mission is to strengthen our authentic voices and spread the Word.
Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped millions of men and women become more confident in front of an audience. Our network of clubs and their learn-by-doing programs are sure to help you become a better speaker and leader.
Toastmasters is a learning laboratory where you can safely enhance your potential for promotion and success while overcoming your fears of public speaking and having fun.
New Lenox Toastmasters will give you the skills and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation. Whether you are a professional, student, stay-at-home parent or retiree, Toastmasters is the most efficient, enjoyable and affordable way of gaining great communication and leadership skills. By learning to think quickly on your feet and to express your ideas with confidence you’ll gain the respect of your peers and become more persuasive in everyday conversations.
Don’t worry! Everyone in a Toastmasters club was once at the level you are now. The environment is friendly and supportive, and the self-paced program allows you to build confidence with each speaking assignment. And you’ll love the applause! Constructive evaluation is at the heart of the Toastmasters program. Each time you give a prepared speech, a skilled evaluator will point out strengths and suggest improvements. At first you’ll be applauded for your effort; later you’ll be applauded for your skill.
Our faith based (inter-faith) group is unique. We start and end each meeting in prayer. In addition, we utilize the Asset of the Month – a Virtues and Values based concept promoted by Lincoln-Way area religious and community leaders to help us develop the whole person. We use positive “Assets” to select meaningful themes for word of the day, tabletopics and speeches. As a result, our club is unlike the other 10,000 Toastmasters clubs found world-wide. Visit us soon, you won’t regret it!
